JEWELLERY CARE

Due to the delicate nature of some of my pieces it’s important to treat it with care to ensure it will look its best for years to come.

Avoid exposure to perfumes, hair products, cosmetics and other household chemicals as they can interfere with the finish, cause discolouration and can be harmful to the stones and beads.  It is best to put your jewellery on last after applying any scents or sprays.

Avoid sleeping in your jewellery as this too will encourage the finish to fade and can put unnecessary strain on delicate chains.

Remove jewellery before showering and swimming. Chlorinated water can encourage the Gold plating to fade.

Storing your jewellery with care can make a big difference.  Try to keep items from rubbing against each other to prevent any patinas or beads from getting scratched and damaged.

Jewellery can be cleaned using a soft toothbrush, warm water and a liquid soap.

Cleaning agents such as ‘Silver Dip’ will be fine for silver pieces but do not use on any beaded, Oxidised or Gold plated pieces as this will encourage the colour to fade and can be harmful to the beads.

Particular care must be taken with Pearls and Turquoise as they are very porous and can easily scratch and lose their lustre. Do not use an acid based cleaner.

If you are in any doubt then please contact me directly and I will be happy to advise.

REPAIRS & RECONDITIONING

Over time your jewellery may need a little care and attention to prolong the life of your piece. I am happy to offer a refinishing service free of charge for the cost of the postage and I can also offer a re-plating service for any Gold vermeil pieces, which will incur a charge. Please get in touch for a quote.

Repairs can also be undertaken but there may be a charge if I feel the piece has been subjected to negligent care or accidental damage.
